I continue to go back and forth on what I'd like this blog to do, both for myself and anyone that actually takes the time to read it. Foremost, I want it to be educational...a place to document my own learning successes and failures, a place I can learn from my many (sometimes painful) mistakes and maybe I can help someone else avoid the same. Secondly, I want this blog to be interesting. I realize that my exploits are extremely boring to some, but hopefully some will have their curiosity piqued enough that they are willing to try something new. My horticultural interests are vast and encompass everything from growing ornamentals to breeding my own plants, hydroponics to permaculture. I am also very fond of farm animals, farming and farmers.
In the beginning, this was to be about introducing the general horticulture community to some of the people responsible for the amazing buffet of plant choices available to them, but I've found that not everyone cares. That, combined with the fact that I don't really advertise the entries beyond a few Facebook groups, means that these phenomenal people don't get the recognition they truly deserve. I also seem to let myself get to easily discouraged when an entry that I spent 5 hours preparing is only read by 9 people and they didn't enjoy it enough to actually make a comment and I stop writing for long periods of time. This isn't really fair to the individuals that took the time to be interviewed by me, providing pictures and glimpses into their personal lives and what drives them. I stand (sit in a recliner) before you now and promise to do better...or at least I promise to try to do better.
